I was very inspired by the look of this real Texan rancher named Teddy Weaver who took some time to sit and pose for this image. I loved his worn, rugged look of his face, hands and boots as it reveals many years of hard work. As he sits in his old library, the sun was casting shadows on his face and I just had to paint him. I tried to capture the atmosphere and glow of the room with all his many books. He was truly inspiring!
