Time Marches On
This flight of Canada Geese was from a reference photo I captured in the moment with no alterations or changes. I'm not a dedicated photographer, I simply use photos as loose references for paintings when I'm not able to plein air paint. So I'm more of a point and snap kind of guy with the camera. As I was setting up to take a shot of this old house, I heard them honking way in the distance - I forced myself to be patient, waiting to see if they'd fly over the house and finally they did. I waited until they were right where I wanted them and got the shot. A real photographer would think nothing of it, I'm sure - but it was a magical capture for me. And gave the context of the painting I had been planning on deeper meaning and interest in the storytelling. I love the memory of that moment and I tried to feed that into the painting.
