Jim Hatzell runs the Artist Ride - it's an event that provides models for artists working in the western art genre. He is also a great artist himself and has been in or involved with every major western movie made in the last 30 years. This painting was inspired by his love of the west. He also makes a great model for a painting in his own right. His beat up hat and sunburned nose were my two favorite things to paint in this piece.
