Three Days to Fort Benton
This is a historically based piece in concept but fictional in literal detail. It was inspired by a history book about early Montana and Alberta ranching and pioneer days. I'd read the book years ago and the biggest thing that stuck with me was reading about the early days of law enforcement. Back in the latter part of the 1800's, the areas of Montana, Wyoming and half of Colorado only had one courthouse to deal with the entire region. It was located in Fort Benton. For years I kept randomly thinking about that and wondering what it must have been like for a lawman to capture someone in Wyoming and then have to travel with their prisoner in tow for days or even weeks at time to make it back to the courthouse. What dangers and trials would they have had to face? I finally hired models to make the idea come to be and this is the result.
