Inspired by the elegant sycamore trunks of groves of these trees painted in the 20th Century by Marion Wachtel in watercolor, I visited Casper's County Park near San Juan Capistrano, CA, to locate a grove that I could paint, with the similar feeling of light and grace. I found this clearing near Ortega Highway that suited my intention.
