Dance of the Spicebush Swallowtails

In early June 2023, after planting one of my new front garden beds, I watered everything in and suddenly I found myself surrounded by dozens of Spicebush Swallowtail butterflies. They were landing on the plants and wet ground, drinking. And their flight felt to me like dancing. That's what I tried to capture here. The dancing movement of these beautiful native butterflies. I used a LOT of palette knife work and very purposeful directional brush strokes, lots of smearing, and not a lot of detail.
